EFG Bank Mandrake wins the Hong Kong Typhoon series

The first race coincided with the Koh Samui, so we didn't compete. The second race was a disaster with everything going wrong both on and off the boat.

 

The next two weekends showed continuing improvements resulting in firsts, seconds and thirds, and by the long Mirs Bay long overnight races, we were lying one point behind our rivals, and Commodores Cup team member, Blondie, another Mils 40.

A wins on each of the two 30 miles races in light winds put us into the lead. The next 3 windward leewards were closely fought but luckily, we won two out of the three, giving us an overall win for this series.

Mandrake is now being re-rated with smaller jibs that will improve the handicap, and help us in the next season which starts on September 24th 2011.
