In 2010, EFG International joined forces with the Viper 640 Class Association to create the EFG Bank Viper Pan-American Championships.

The Viper 640 is a high-performance, one-design sport boat. It is the fastest 20' sport boat One-Design Class on the North American sailing circuit.

The Championships provide a grand prix circuit for what is the fastest growing one-design, three-person sport boat in the Americas. It promotes a Pan-American concept, encouraging sailors from across the continent to join in friendly competition. Teams from Canada, the USA, the Caribbean and Europe compete on the circuit, and include several past Olympians.

The 2011 Championships comprise a circuit of three Viper 640 regattas (see racing schedule).
